RENOVATION- MERU RESIDENCY- Preserving Memories, Creating a Legacy

Every home carries a story, and some stories are too valuable to replace. This project was rooted in preserving the memories and emotional connection that generations of a family had built within their home while transforming it to meet the needs of a growing household. Originally, the property consisted of a modest two-bedroom farmhouse with limited self-contained facilities. Rather than abandoning its history, we embraced the opportunity to reimagine the space. Through careful demolition and reconstruction, we expanded the home to accommodate the family's evolving lifestyle, adding an additional bedroom, a dedicated outdoor dirty kitchen, and seamlessly integrating the new spaces with the existing structure. The transformation extended beyond the interior. We redesigned the roofing system to unify the old and new sections, enhanced the façade to create a stronger architectural presence, and incorporated expansive windows that frame the breathtaking views of Mount Kenya. The landscaping was equally important, ensuring that the home remained connected to its natural surroundings while creating inviting outdoor spaces for family gatherings and relaxation. What was once a simple farmhouse has been transformed into a timeless family residence—one that honors its past while embracing the future. The project stands as a reminder that great design is not always about starting anew; sometimes, it is about recognizing the value of what already exists and elevating it for generations to come. This project embodies a belief we hold dearly: Old is Gold. Every property has a unique attachment to its owners, and our role as your designer and builder is to preserve that essence while introducing thoughtful, modern solutions that make the space adaptable, functional, and enduring for years to come.
